Resolution on Rescinding the Sequestration

WHEREAS the sequestration will cause and is already causing:

WHEREAS overall the sequestration is resulting in devastating hardship to low income and poor people; and

WHEREAS The Social Security Administration (SSA) has lost 8,000 jobs since 2011. At the present time, there are over 700,000 disability claims and hearing appeals backlogged. Sequestration and alternative budget  proposals could result in an additional  $600 million to $1 billion cut from SSA’s current inadequate funding levels. Now therefore be it:

RESOLVED that [name of labor organization] calls upon the AFL-CIO, Change to Win and the National Education Association (NEA) to join together to organize massive united demonstrations demanding that the sequestration be rescinded immediately; and be it finally

RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the AFL-CIO, Change to Win and the NEA.
