Protest Christie's Giveaways! No More Giveaways to the 1%!

Hoboken Ferry
1 Hudson Place, Hoboken, NJ

Thursday, May 23, 2013, 12:00 noon

As Governor Christie’s corporate welfare program falls under increasing scrutiny, we hope you’ll join us for an exciting action next week.

At 12:00 noon on May 23rd we’ll gather at the Hoboken Ferry (1 Hudson Place) to stage a protest of the Governor’s $80 million giveaway to Pearson, Inc., for moving its offices from Upper Saddle River to Hoboken, even as the high-stakes testing giant moves half of its jobs to Manhattan.

We’ll protest the pay-offs-for-layoffs scheme by bringing a giant check from the taxpayers of New Jersey, signed by Governor Christie, and ship it across the Hudson to New York City!

Pearson has made the news lately for a series of high-profile errors in its testing contract with New York City. It’s a key player in the corporate education reform movement, so we’ll be partnering closely with the Our Children/Our Schools coalition to make the case for investing in our public schools, not in pay offs for layoffs.
